District committee gives thumbs up to south Muskoka health hub funding.

The family heath team’s request was for $200,000 to develop the Gravenhurst Health Hub that is projected to support more than 6,000 unattached patients in the community. The reserve, which was created in 2024, has a mandate to support health service organizations that serve Muskoka residents by offsetting the cost of eligible capital projects.

This week, more than 100 residents gathered at the Gravenhurst Opera House for a community Town Hall focused on the creation of a new Health Hub in the community to deliver much-needed primary care.

Health Hub Meeting to Help Solve Primary Care Crisis in Gravenhurst

With CFHT doctors already committing $100,000 and Rotary $50,000, Town of Gravenhurst Mayor Heidi Lorenz is expected to announce its contribution of $200,000.

Organizers of the Hub are also seeking $200,000 each from the District of Muskoka and the Ministry of Health.

Initial plans are to renovate the ground floor and open new empty space on the second of the existing building to welcome new affiliated services.
